Hurricane Rita

We decided to run from Rita.  She was a Category 5 Hurricane and was predicted to hit land at Matagorda Bay.  We drove to Seguin, Texas to stay with Danny & Sandy Jorgenson, Gena's Uncle & Aunt.  Tif went with us and with Sharon meeting us in Pledger, we had a 5 car convoy.  The traffic wasn't too bad and we got there in 4.5 hours.

We stayed in Big Gene's camper that he had parked in Danny's driveway.  It was very comfortable and we were safe.  Our cats were a bit timid at first, being in a new place, but the dogs were running all over the place.  On Friday we drove to Garden Ridge Pottery and spent too many hours and too many dollars, but we had a great time.

By Saturday it was safe to return home and we made the trip back in 5.5 hours, stopping a couple more times.  The traffic was again busy but not too bad.

We had one tree in the front yard fall over.  Luckily it was not near the house and didn't cause any damage...except to my body when I have to cut it up and haul it to a burn pile...ha.
