The Latest News...

Trevor stayed home from school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday last week.  On Tuesday he stayed with his memaw and pawpaw so I could go golfing and see an Astros game, but on Wednesday and Thursday I stayed home with him.  He had to miss baseball practice on Tuesday and ended up missing his game on Friday because his fever came back again on Friday afternoon...bummer.

Dan is still in the hospital in Germany, but is starting to recover from a bad case of pneumonia which induced acute respiritory distress.  He may be able to travel home in the next couple of days.  I created a bog for updates on his progress.  Go to www.darvesmith.com for a link to that site.

Like I mentioned earlier, I went golfing on Tuesday with Rod and Travis.  It was a fun day.  Rod and I were pretty evenly matched, but Travis must have been having the best time of all since he got in more swings than the two of us combined.  He did beat us on one hole and even threw a golf club at us once.  I have pics on my flickr site.

The Astros game was fun, even if Rod never showed up...what a waste of 30 bucks, ha.  The 'Stros lost...Pettitte gave up about a million runs, I lost track, ha, but the team got their National League Champion Rings and Travis and I got replicas...I gave mine to Jordan.

On Saturday, the Van Vleck High School Leopard Players competed in the Area One Act Play competition at Industrial High School.  It is basically the second round of playoffs for theatre.  They put on a great show but did not advance to the next level.  Schulenburg & East Bernard are the two school moving on to the Regional Competition.

On Sunday, Jordan new boyfriend and prom date, Jason, went to church with us (he lives between Edna and Vanderbilt) and then to Events to see Jordan's prom dress so he can match colors with his tux.  I sang "Word of God Speak" in church and we all ate with Gene, Sharon and Brett at Riverpoint afterwards.  We hope we didn't scare Jason too much, ha.

I also repaired the front tire on my bike and Trevor and I rode down the highway, which is closed due to construction.  Fun stuff.  Now my legs are sore...old age I guess.
