Because of financial difficulties I recently started looking for another job, better paying and closer to home. When a few promising interviews didn't pan out I decided to try KBR again. Dan was able to get my name on a personnel requisition (thanks, Dan, for everything) and the KBR countdown had begun. After performing a few pre-processing tasks and setting a processing date of June 11th, I worked my last day at Royal ISD and told my family I was headed back to the other side of the world. Because my background check hadn't completed yet, my processing date was pushed back to the 18th. But…
Remember the two interviews that didn't pan out? Well, one of those opportunities was rekindled when Prosperity Bank e-mailed and asked me to come in and visit with their IT department. With KBR still on the horizon I tried unsuccessfully to schedule the interview and since my time was running out I e-mailed Prosperity Bank and asked if this was just another interview or if they were planning on making me an offer. To my surprise they said they could make me an offer right now without the interview, and they did. The offer was $11,000.00 more than I was currently making at Royal ISD and the drive is almost 30 minutes shorter. Gena and I crunched the numbers and talked to the kids and after much prayer and deliberation decided to take Prosperity Bank's offer and keep me in the good old USA.
I have to thank a few of those who helped me and my family during this difficult time. Rod, Dan, Clint…I couldn't ask for better friends, and Dad…you're the best…thanks to each of you.
So for now, I am not going back to Iraq. Maybe I need to have a celebration party?
