Shawn's Illness

For those of you who may not have already heard, my brother, Shawn, was having pains in his abdomen which caused him to miss work, and for him to miss work it had to be bad. He visited a doctor who ran some tests and determined Shawn had diabetes. Shawn got a prescription and within a few days had already taken his first dose, but the pain was still there so he went to the ER where he found out he needed to have his appendix removed...bummer.

They scheduled the operation for the following morning and Shawn was admitted to the hospital. The operation was not as routine as we would have liked it to be and the incision was larger than expected but by the afternoon he was back in the hospital room resting. One of his doctors visited and informed us that the blood work came back and showed that he had an infected pancreas and could not eat or drink anything, not even his own spit, until further notice...bummer. Well apparently his doctors weren't in total agreement with this policy and he didn't have to starve for too long.

A couple of days later he was released and is healing at home. Tomorrow he is scheduled to go and have his staples removed and the wound drainage bag taken away...that's a good thing, that bag was gross.
Get well soon brother, we love you and are praying for you.
